Party for Fair Food! A Celebration of Two Years and Going of
Farmworker Solidarity in Denver.
Friday, November 6
7:30pm - ????
FREE, All Ages
@ the Flobots' Community Space
2705 Larimer St.
Denver, CO
Denver Fair Food is throwing a party! After two years of success and struggle, we believe it is long past due to thank the broader Denver metro community for its inspiring, unwavering support of the Campaign for Fair Food.
As a small token of gratitude to the Mile High City, we at Denver Fair Food would like to invite you, your friends, and your family to a night of celebration at the Flobots' community space.
There will be music, drinks, amazing people and plenty of tomato-themed snacks! As well as slide shows from our actions in Denver, campaign updates, visioning for the future, and artwork from the movement!
Since the Campaign for Fair Food still has a long way to go - such as the ongoing campaign against Chipotle and new campaigns against King Soopers and others - and here in Denver we plan on seeing it all the way through, this celebration is not just of the past but of the future. What a great opportunity to get plugged in to the campaign if you have been disconnected lately or are looking for how to begin contributing to this beautiful movement!
Denver Fair Food: we are community members in and around Denver who work in partnership with the Coalition of Immokalee Workers, a grassroots human rights organization of farmworkers working to end modern-day slavery and sweatshop labor conditions in Florida agriculture. Through an alliance of Denver residents and Florida workers, we seek to transform the purchasing practices of the corporate food industry in order to advance the human rights of farmworkers at the bottom of corporate supply chains.

Sweet Crude is a documentary film about the Niger Delta – the consequences of oil extraction, the history of non-violent protest, and the members of a new insurgency who, in the three years since the filmmakers met them as college students became the young men of MEND. Seattle-based filmmaker Sandy Cioffi was held in Nigerian military prison with her crew while making this movie in 2008.
“…a classic example of urgent, righteous-indignation agitprop cinema that succeeds in being not just angry, but art.” Variety

A benefit event for the Denver ABCF Mutual Aid Fund
"Martyr's Ball: Remember the dead and dance like hell for the living"
Wednesday November 11 (Haymarket Day) 8pm
Mercury Cafe 2199 California Street (22nd St and California), Denver
Enjoy a night of music and food to commemorate Haymarket Day, the anniversary of the execution of the Haymarket Martyrs, four anarchists executed during the height of the struggle for the 8 hour day in 1887. We will remember fallen comrades while also helping to raise funds for
contemporary social justice movements active in Denver and across the globe.
In the spirit of remembrance, we are encouraging attendees to come dressed as a martyr or fallen comrade from a social justice struggle. We are also encouraging participants to contact us in advance to let us know who they will come as, so we can compile educational materials about many of the martyrs represented at the event.
All funds generated by the event will go to benefit with Denver ABCF Mutual Aid Fund, a project that aims to provide financial support to members of social justice movements in need of economic relief and assistance.
For more information about the event you can contact the Denver ABCF at denverabc@rocketmail.com or contact Whitney at 303-995-3899

Protest the “Tea Party Against Amnesty and Illegal Immigrants”
Support Migrant Rights!
Gather at Lincoln Park,
across from State Capitol
Saturday, November 14, 2009 – 10:00am
The Tea Bagger movement is holding a rally to agitate against migrant peoples this Saturday, November 14 at 10am-12pm at the State Capitol. The fascistic Minutemen and other nativist and racist “patriots” will be down spouting hatred and violence against migrant and non-white peoples.
Counter this racist gathering. Bring your signs, banners, flags, noisemakers, voices, middle fingers, etc. The real illegal aliens are those Amerikkkans who disregarded other nations borders and stole lands in its move west. Occupiers have no right to impose a border, and even less to decide who should be on land it stole at gunpoint.

Broken Rainbow: Film Screening Fundraiser for Black Mesa Caravan
Tuesday, November 17th
7 pm
Bean Cycle, 144 North College Avenue, Fort Collins CO
Come out and watch Broken Rainbow, a documentary that chronicles the U.S. government-sponsored forced relocation of thousands of Navajos in Black Mesa, Arizona.
A little bit about the film:
Academy Award-winning BROKEN RAINBOW is the heartbreaking tale of the forced relocation of 12,000 Navajos from their ancestral homeland in Arizona that began in the 1970s and continues to this day.
BROKEN RAINBOW bears witness to the machinations of energy companies and their government proxies as they eagerly cast aside the peaceful Navajo to make way for oil, gas, uranium and coal exploration. In their own words, elders and outside experts discuss the rich culture and the history of the Navajo as well as their close friends and neighbors the Hopi. The film follows these Native Americans as they take their protest to Congress and join with the militant American Indian Movement, turning their tragedy into acts of heroic resistance. Beautifully photographed and scored, the film captures the sweeping majesty of sacred Native American lands and the people who inhabit them.
This event is free but please please donate what you can. All the proceeds support a caravan that will deliver aid and supplies to the people of the Black Mesa at the end of this month. Read more about the caravan here: http://blackmesais.org/. Solidarity and Support!
An exclusive interview with Daniel Sunjata and another with Richard Gage will introduce this film.

Please join us on Saturday, November 28th to stand in solidarity with Dr Mutulu Shakur before his appeals hearing on Monday, November 30th at the super-maximum Federal prison in Florence, CO.
Dr. Shakur is a New Afrikan (Black) man whose primary work has been in the area of health. He is a doctor of acupuncture and one of the most prolific, committed and conscious freedom fighters and political prisoners to whom the Black liberation struggle has given birth.
Since the age 16, Dr. Shakur has been a part of the New Afrikan
Independence Movement. As a part of this movement Dr. Shakur has been a target of the illegal Counterintelligence Program carried out by the Federal Bureau of Investigation (COINTELPRO). This was a secret police strategy used in the U.S. starting in the 1960's to destroy and neutralize progressive and revolutionary organizations. It is believed that Dr. Shakur's resistance to this program led to his arrest and trial.

Being that one of the most significant street battles in many years is coming up on its tenth anniversary, I was wondering if anyone would like to grab some beers and talk about the event. I am new to town, but was involved in the anticapitalist movement in Chicago for the years after Seattle.
We had the world's attention during that week. It would be nice to raise a glass and meet some folks who were there. There's plenty of work to be done.
