Rally with students to save higher education!

The Colorado State Legislature's Joint Budget Committee has voted on
and recommended a measure that would cut higher education funding by
50% as well as allowing institutions to have massive tuition hikes.
This not only shows the state's lack of regard for higher education,
but their willingness to put the burden on students rather than the
schools that are mismanaging their budgets and overpaying
administrators. The students that will experience the brunt of this
are those attending affordable schools like Metro and the community
colleges. They will be the poor, the people of color and the otherwise
under-served.
Whether you are a student or not, this issue will affect you. Are you
fed up with the lack of access to healthcare? Well, there would be
more doctors and thus more affordable access if the schooling wasn't
so expensive. Is your child getting substandard education in K-12
schools? It is probably because their teacher was not given access to
the best education they could get because of tuition costs.Do you want
to see alternatives to fossil fuels become viable? That won't happen
unless there are throngs of well educated scientists to research and
develop viable plans.
We need to, as a community, stand with students and show that
education is a pillar of our society that we will not let go.

the Dumbing Down of America

This is a further attempt by established governmental power brokers to continue their assault on middle-class, working America by making our country's public school system the most embarrasing in the world. Most high schoolers can barely read above a third-grade level and don't know how to spell the word "and." Other countries laugh at us because our children are morons and we simply cannot compete against them intellectually. Children from other countries and other cultures are taught to speak more than one language at birth; most of our country's adults can barely speak English and see people from other countries as "foreigners" and as alien. We are the only country in the world attempting to crush its middle class and destroy our own environment and economy so that the few can profit now; we have no health care for anyone who is not wealthy, horrible education for the public schools, an economy in the toilet, technology behind other countries' and half the country obssessed with worshipping fear as a way of life. Canada looks better every day. -- Midnight Rider
