Benefit Film Screening for Zapatistas / La Otra Campana and the TCD Alliance
This event will benefit both the upcoming Indigenous Encuentro in
Sonora, Mexico (October 11-14) which is organized by the Zapatistas as
part of La Otra Campana, as well as benefiting the TCD Alliance which
is organizing non-violent resistance to the Columbus Day Parade here
in Denver on October 6th.

Program:
Excerpts from "Zapatista!"
A film outlining the history and causes of the Zapatista's uprising
and struggle.
"Resistir Para Existir: La Lucha Cucapa"
Illustrates how the Cucapa, an indigenous people from Baja California
struggle to survive after the Colorado River has disappeared and the
Mexican government has taken away their right to fish.
"Drums of October"
Indigenous people express themselves on the issues of history,
education, Christopher Columbus and the controversial national holiday
named for him.
Followed by a discussion about local indigenous issues and the
Zapatista's upcoming Encuentro Indigena, facilitated by a member of
the Transform Columbus Day Alliance
