Denver Anarchist Arrested for Allegedly Smashing Windows of Democratic Party
Ariel Attack, a Denver anarchist, has been arrested and charged with Felony Criminal Mischief (F4) for allegedly smashing 11 windows of the Democratic National Party headquaters at 8th and Santa Fe in Denver.
Ariel will be arraigned tomorrow (Wed 26) at the Denver County Courthouse (14th and Bannock) at 10am in courtroom 12T. Whoever can show up and support Ariel in person will be much appreciated.
ARIEL IS IN NEED OF BAIL MONEY!!! Areil's bail hasn't been set yet, but we are trying to get ahead of the ball. We have been told to expect, because of the high profile of the case, $10000 bond! This means that we need to raise $1000 to be able to go to a bondsperson. So far, we have raised $300. If you are able to donate, please call Ben at 9-7-0/6-2-3/5-6-2-9 to arrange donating to the ARIEL ATTACK BAIL AND LEGAL FUND!!!
***UPDATE- 8/27*** Ariel has been released on $5000 bail, and we are not posting new stories until the media hullabaloo has died down. Ariel is doing well and is tremendously grateful for all of your support. Because we aren't making any statements at this time, please email friendsofariel@riseup.net for updates. Thanks for everything!!!

kinda an idiotic action to
kinda an idiotic action to begin with. I heard about it on the news, presumable before details of the arrest were available, and I figured it was some white supremacist/tea bagger type. So-called "anarchist" politics lost in the so-called "direct action," going-nowhere-fast nexus.
INSIDE JOB!
It's obvious this "Ariel" was a triple-agent------a Libertarian posing as a Democrat posing as an anarchist. Why, you ask? To make Anarchism LOOK BAD!!!!
The media has it all wrong-----It is true that Ariel infiltrated the Democratic Party by canvassing for Mollie Collum, BUT the idea was to disparage ANARCHISTS, not the Dems!!!! LOOK AT THE FACTS! A quick google search shows Ariel's brother has written for the American Conservative and is an outspoken far-right Libertarian!!!

Ariel is out!
According to the Denver ABC Ariel has been released. This is good news!
Also, for those thinking property destruction is an ineffective tactic, I reccomend reading your history books. Property destruction is usually ALWAYS deployed in revolutionary situations and forms of direct action. It is non-violent resistance. I won't even bother debating that because holy shit it's 2009. Boston tea party? Seattle 99?
The Action
I do not necessarily agree with the strategy. I am actually in favor of health-care reform, and think anarchists should not oppose good health-care reform in America at this point. As to the tactics, I have no problem with them. However, I am not going to condemn it, for several reasons. Firstly, we don't know whether it will play out in-favor of the reform or against it, in terms of national debate... there's the physical damage, the blow-back and the response, and so many variables that we can never know. Secondly, far too much of our attention is against the extreme-right, we should balance our focus (though this is not the time), I can't be upset with someone targeting democrats the same way that we target banks and republicans, or else we're hypocrites. Finally, she is a member of the community, an ally, and despite minor disagreements, deserves our support and friendship on those grounds as well.
