A STATEMENT FROM THE NIO EDITORIAL COLLECTIVE

This is a statement from Negotiation is Over (NIO) which has chapters in many states please feel free to check out the web site http://negotiationisover.com/.

I repost this here as an active member of the NIO editorial collective and look forward to future action here in Colorado.

An action is currently underway at a courthouse in Marysville, Ohio to disrupt the legal system that legimates animal torture, constrains activism, and excuses the real terrorists.

Three animal rights activists, editors of the website Negotiation Is Over!, have begun a civil disobedience demonstration at the courthouse where Billy Joe Gregg evaded his hearing in Marysville, Ohio this morning. Jody Sidote, Agatha Maksymiak, and Camille Marino come fromdivere professional backgrounds but share an array of concerns about agribusiness. The three activists were compelled to put their bodies on the machine today in order to use their voices to speak for all hidden and terrified victims of the dairy industry.

Florida Youth Joins Human Rights Defenders at United Nations During Geneva Summit

FLORIDA – September 1, 2010 – Last weekend Youth for Human Rights Florida President, Dustin McGahee, joined human rights defenders at the 7th Annual Youth for Human Rights International Summit, in support of making the United Nations Universal Declaration of Human Rights widely known and used. Held in the United Nations Palais des Nations in Geneva, the event was also attended by youth from more than 30 countries and over 60 UN Diplomats.

The UN Resolution proclaiming August 2010-2011 the “Year of Youth” was honored as part of the Summit’s theme. The Summit opened with a procession of the youth delegates carrying the flag of their respective nations. McGahee, who was the Youth for Human Rights International (YHRI) USA Delegate in 2009, came back this year as an International Youth Ambassador, and spoke at the UN Building to the Youth Delegates and UN Diplomats, about the activities of Youth for Human Rights members from across the globe. These young advocates have been busy not only educating others in schools and universities across the world, but also at events such as European auto races, World Cup Festivals, summer camps, soccer games, and concerts.

One of the most notable events created by the Youth for Human Rights Delegates was the “International Walk for Human Rights”, on United Nations Human Rights Day 2009, originated and spearheaded by Florida’s YHR President, Dustin McGahee. Using the power of the Internet, these youth created a historical event where over 20 countries and nearly 10,000 people joined forces to bring about the awareness of the need of human rights education and actions. McGahee said, “Creating this walk was possible by a gathering of youth at the Geneva Summit last year where filled with energy and camaraderie a diverse group of young people from around the world shared a desire to help others know and use their intrinsic human rights.”

NEW MEXICO HOSTS WHITE HOUSE GUESTS

Santa Fe National Forest, NM (July 31, 2009) - When Hurricane Katrina hit the Gulf Coast in 2005, a grassroots emergency relief effort was born out of dedicated volunteers with years of experience working at outdoor kitchens and medical stations at Rainbow gatherings. Their prompt mobilization to the Gulf Coast fully equipped with supplies, know-how and ingenuity tremendously helped victims survive and recover from one of America’s most epic disasters. Their accomplishments were recognized all the way to the highest level of government, the Bush administration’s White House. In May 2008, these intrepid volunteers accepted an invitation and attended a function in the Eisenhower Executive Office Building within the White House complex, where they were thanked for their work. Some of these same volunteers are currently enjoying their visit to this year’s Rainbow Gathering being held in New Mexico’s magnificent Santa Fe National Forest, now in its final phase of “clean-up.”

In late August 2005 when these skilled Rainbow gatherers saw people literally dying on television after the hurricane hit and no one was helping them, they sprung into action. Familiar with surviving quite well for extended time periods with no running water or electricity in the woods, they first headed to Waveland, MS – where there had been a 32-foot storm surge – and set up a huge relief center in the parking lot of Fred’s Department Store across the street from the Waveland Police Department. From there more Rainbow volunteers branched out to New Orleans and quickly built another center in Washington Park that ran simultaneously with the one in Waveland.

Florida Youth Assault Against Drugs
2 years 37 weeks ago
Anonymous

In another focused assault upon the scourge of drugs in our Tampa Bay communities, the local chapter of the Foundation for a Drug-Free World, an international educational organization established to empower individuals with factual information about drugs, mobilized their volunteers to hand out more than 6,000 booklets this past weekend.

These ten different drug education booklets delineate, in detailed but understandable term, the effects of all common illegal street drugs, as well as many prescription drugs when abused.

Each booklet covers one specific drug, such as heroin, cocaine, painkillers, marijuana and even alcohol. Each is written in a simple and straightforward manner that leads the reader to make a rational decision not to use or abuse drugs based on facts and not just an emotional pitch.

The Foundation for a Drug-Free World is a world leader in drug education. In addition to hosting regular drug awareness events in countries across the globe, the Foundation sponsors public service announcements on television and other public venues that feature young people speaking about the dangers of drugs in the language of their peers.

More than 56 million copies of the drug education booklets have been distributed all told and this weekend’s local push was part of a synchronized international effort to hand out 500,000 more.

L. Ron Hubbard, whose developments in the field of drug rehabilitation are used by the effective “Narconon” program, once said that, “The acceleration of widespread use of drugs has contributed heavily to a debilitated society. The drug scene is planet-wide. It is swimming in blood and human misery.”

TARP money helped bail out the world, oversight panel says
by Ryan Holeywell | August 12, 2010 4:40 PM

More bailout money flowed from the United States to other nations than vice versa, and the Treasury Department has failed to take adequate steps to determine the exact figures, the Congressional Oversight Panel said in its August report.

The flow of funds abroad, from the Troubled Asset Relief Program and other rescue efforts, is due largely to foreign companies that were counterparties to bailed-out business like Amercan International Group Inc. In addition, many U.S. businesses that got government money have significant operations abroad.

Because Treasury didn't gather data on where the bailout money ended up, it's impossible to know the extent of the disparity, the oversight panel said in its report released Thursday. But, it added, "U.S. money had more impact on non-U.S. institutions and economies than non-U.S. rescue funds had on the United States, even after adjusting for the relative size of the various jurisdictions' rescues."

This is a video for anyone who’s struggling for a better education, especially immigrant students.

by Ezra Niesen

www.newbookforanewworld.org

I was in the May 29th march on the Arizona state capitol, and I met a lot of people struggling for a better education. I am a certified instructor, there are a lot of teachers in my family, and I'm from a farming town, so I've seen how the education system is used against the working class.

Part of the environmental science movement has been a new educational Renaissance that unifies a lot of ideas to make them easier to learn. So I’ve made this video about 1: What a better education would be, for everyone, 2: How to learn it on your own with 5 books that are available through Amazon, 3: Why the public learning it would help solve a lot of problems like with immigration and racism, 4: Why immigrants from agricultural countries would be better at it than people form the U.S., since biology is the foundation of environmental science and farming IS biology class, and 5: How environmental scientists discovered 24 years before the NAFTA went into effect that the environmental crisis would result in a lot of immigration. I have the video posted in 16 parts on You Tube. You can also download it in ten parts from Indy Media video.

Zombies to Donate Thousands to RNC 8 and Scott DeMuth
Portion of Minneapolis Police Settlement to Go to Anarchists Facing Trial

Minneapolis, MN--The RNC 8 and Scott DeMuth, Twin Cities anarchist organizers facing trial this fall on politically motivated conspiracy charges, are receiving donations to their legal defense funds from an unlikely source--zombies who settled a lawsuit with the City of Minneapolis late last week.

The seven “zombie” street theatre performers split a $165,000 settlement with their lawyer stemming from police misconduct during their false arrests in 2006 [see http://tinyurl.com/strib-zombies]. Members of the Zombie 7 have pledged at least $4,000 of their settlement to the legal defense of the RNC 8 and Scott DeMuth, another Minneapolis activist facing a politically-motivated conspiracy trial this fall.

"The Zombie 7 were not slapped with criminal charges after being absurdly arrested for 'simulating weapons of mass destruction,'” said Raphi Rechitsky, one of the Zombie 7. “But countless others are prosecuted for their artistic and political expression, views, and associations, much like the RNC 8 and Scott DeMuth. They face not only jail time and exhausting legal proceedings, but also costly legal defense. My fellow zombies and I have come to understand that with a flip of a coin, we could have been the ones to face criminal charges on outrageous accusations of 'violence.'"

Rechistky announced the donation in a video viewable at http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=q....

He continued, “I see this money as not just compensation for my ordeal, but also money for people battling back against the punitive criminal justice system.”

Why the State of California's Department of Justice, Bureau of Elder Abuse and Medi-Cal Fraud won't prosecute Sun Healthcare Group Inc for violations of it's state injunction?
2 years 38 weeks ago

The DOJ -BMFEA fined Sun Healthcare Group Inc for under staffing violations in their California skilled nursing homes in Sept 2005 $2.5 Million. However, Assistatnt Attorney General Claude Vanderwold, told my attorney Eugen Andres and I in 2008 they did not include the deaths Sun caused in their Newport Beach, Calif Sunbridge faciltiy in 2003. Why? Why did the CEO interfer in settlement negotiations for the wrongful death lawsuit of my mother, Evelyn Calvert, with threats in mediation "If you pursue this case to a jury trial we will make you out to be a crazy woman and rip you a new axxhole"? And "You're not getting the keys to Rick Matros' Bentley". Rick Matros is the CEO of Sun. Why did my former late corrupt attorney Daniel Leipold lie to me about the law in mediation? Why did he drop wrongful death charges before even speaking with Sun's Medical Director Dr Stoney whom I'd told was glad we were suing and he was anxious to testify for us against Sun? I sued him for that malpractice and he died 2 weeks later in his sleep at age 59 of unknown causes later determined to be diabetes. Why did the CEO attempt to obtain a restraining order against me for stating he was a slumlord? Why would he risk the bad publicity in this case? Read how public records were purged and evidence is abundant that somewhere there is big corruption in our government: www.sunhealthcaregroupinc.blogsp... Deborah Calvert Newport Beach, California

Educating Our Youth Becomes Too Late
2 years 38 weeks ago

Educating Our Youth Becomes Too Late Illicit drug and alcohol use is a fact of life in today’s society. To use or not to use such substances is a decision which all young people must address for themselves at an early age. Governments, schools and social programs have attempted to forestall such abusive behavior by young people through school and community based programs as well as broad advertising campaigns, taxation and law enforcement. Yet the continued presence of substance abuse by youth in this country is unquestionable testimony to the fact that we need to do a more effective job for the sake of our young people and the well-being of our society. If a young person hasn’t firmly decided not to start drugs by age 11, it is late to start talking to him about the subject. National statistics show that by age 13 significant number of youth are already drinking and trying other illegal drugs. Therefore, the equation is simple: either we educate our youth well enough to prevent them from becoming embroiled in the chaos of drug abuse, or we will have to struggle with an increasing population of seriously addicted adults. While rehabilitation is a painstaking, individual-by-individual process, it is possible to provide drug education services to hundreds of young persons at a time. Too many young people believe that they have at least some idea what they are getting into when they start experimenting with drugs. The truth is that most individuals – whether teenagers or adults – have little real knowledge of what drugs are and how they affect the body and mind. Nor have they considered how it might be possible to feel good, have a good time, solve shyness, loneliness, pain – all the things drugs are supposed to solve – without resorting to drugs. The Foundation for a Drug-Free World drug educational program doesn’t rely on scare tactics.
Affects of Bullying at School often Overlooked

Affects of Bullying at School often Overlooked While the US National Statistics will say the violent crimes are decreasing in public school, bullying, either as an act of verbal or physical abuse, is a problem that is not decreasing. “Bullying at school is a pervasive problem that affects millions of students every year. Of those who were bullied, a subgroup also reported being physically injured (bruise, cut, bloody nose, etc.) by the bullying. Because bullying is so commonplace and ranges so widely in severity, its importance is often overlooked,” according to the National Center for Education Statistics, U.S. Department of Education. “If students have a good understanding of human rights”, says Youth for Human Rights Florida President Dustin McGahee, “then they would understand that if you want your rights respected, then you have to respect the right of others. If student knew and practiced a few of these rights such as Human Right #1 We Are All Born Free and Equal, or Human Rights #2 No Discrimination, it would create a school environment with more tolerance. It is that simple.” This message ties in with the message of the United Nations theme for the International Year of the Youth, “Dialogue and Mutual Understanding.” In the spirit of the International Year of Youth, McGahee is stepping up his work, and hopes to take an active part in important decision-making issues and reach more youth than ever in his goal to bring the education of the Universal Declaration of Human Rights into schools across Florida and beyond. Youth for Human Rights Florida is a secular non-profit organization with the mission to educate about Human Rights both in and out of the classroom. The uniqueness of the program lies in the educational materials, which includes a simple to understand DVD explaining the 30 Human Rights, created in collaboration with the Human Rights Department of the Church of Scientology International. Its founder L.
