Near 28 rd, first I  fit the description of a bike thief.  Then, they had to try to positively identify me on their scanners.  I  am mentally ill, I admit and I stagger, I admit.  I am disabled I admit.   I am also a book author in the Cambridge Whose Who list and I am the scientist of sorts and not the theif, but if they try to force me into another profession, I defy that purpose....I prefer my profession as an amateur theoretical physicist!!

The past 60 years of China's Communist history can be divided roughly into two phases.

The first phase, between 1949 and 1978, was this: the Communist bureaucracy had totally destroyed society, the economy and the culture. This was done by a total bureaucratic monopoly over all of nation's wealth, labor, markets, organizations and institutions. Furthermore, it completely destroyed the free press and the law. But this unprecedented bureaucratic domination immediately produced unprecedented man-made disasters in world history, not just China's. The disasters include endless violence and terror, the creation of the state sector and people's communes, the total bureaucratization of media, education, and thought.

In the end, beginning in 1958, the regime wanted to have a total bureaucratic miracle in the so-called Great Leap Forward (1958-60), and record disasters emerged all at once. Record deaths of some 50 million people occurred in the period of 1958-62, killing some 50 million people by an unprecedented famine as well as a record oganized violence.

What is more, these unprecedented miseries turned out to be the very beginning of bureaucratic disasters. Worse than the famine, three bureaucratic wars emerged against society and the people in the period of 1959-78, which ended to destroy countless millions of lives, or even more, by organized violence, not to mention a near total destruction of culture, education, thinking, wealth and all other good things in life.

PITTSBURGH (AP) - Police used all the nonlethal tools at their disposal to thwart protesters at the Group of 20 summit this week, firing bean bags, hurling canisters of smoke and pepper spray, using flash-bang grenades and batons and deploying a high-tech sound-blasting device meant to push back crowds.

It was all a bit much for civil liberties groups and protesters.

They decried what they called a heavy-handed and unwarranted police response, saying riot officers focused on largely peaceful, if unsanctioned, demonstrations when they should have been paying more attention to small groups of vandals that smashed windows of city businesses.

"It's not just intimidation, it's disruption and in some cases outright prevention of peaceful protesters being able to get their message out," said Witold "Vic" Walczak, legal director of the ACLU of Pennsylvania. "In a week when we need freedom of speech more than ever, free speech died in Pittsburgh this week."

He added that "the deployment of police seems to be more geared toward suppressing lawful demonstrations than actually preventing crime."

Hundreds of riot police broke up an impromptu gathering Thursday night in Schenley Plaza near the University of Pittsburgh campus, where large numbers of university students mingled with smaller groups of protesters, including anarchists.

The plaza is a quarter-mile from the building where world leaders were assembled, but the dignitaries were gone by the time police declared the gathering illegal and fired canisters of pepper spray and smoke.

The FDA will ignore pesticides, chlorine, dioxins, radiation and other industrial parts of typical cigarettes in it new Act. This Act, supposedly against the cigarette industry is entirely in support of that industry, even to the point of assisting it to evade legal consequences.

The FDA is now empowered by Congress to "regulate" "tobacco". One may post Public Comments on this before September 29. Below are links to the comment site and to see the Act itself. It's called the "Family Smoking Prevention and Tobacco Control Act". It's not that long.

For the sake of the broad cigarette industry "family" (including ingredients suppliers, et al) this Act will ignore easily the far and away most health-damaging industrial elements in cigarettes and cigarette smoke, and even anywhere in the world. Do not think of this as being about "smoking", pro or con. It is about industrial evasion of exposure, prevention of profit losses, evasion of civil and criminal consequences, and widespread misuse of public office...including in health agencies. And, the health insurers that invest so heavily in cigarette makers and the rest must be obliged to face the consequences as well. This relates significantly to the push for Single Payer. We do not want cigarette-investing insurers administering our health care.
