Protest/Rally
Action Against Blue Cross Blue Shield Tomorrow!
Submitted by Evan Herzoff on September 21, 2009 - 4:10pm"Big Insurance: Sick of It" Rally in Denver!
Advocates of universal Single-Payer health care - the only realistic reform - are taking action tomorrow, September 22, 2009, with a rally to highlight private insurance corporations' role in the denial of healthcare - this time focusing on Anthem Blue Cross Blue Shield.
When: Tuesday. September 22 at 12:00 P.M. high noon!
Where: The Wellpoint Building, 700 Broadway Street, Denver, Colorado. The Wellston Building is between Broadway and Lincoln (southbound and northbound one-way streets if you don't know the area) between 7th and 8th, and it's a large building that you can't miss just north of Speer Blvd.
What: "We'll hear stories from individuals who are suffering under our broken health care system, and deliver a letter to Big Insurance, demanding that they stop denying us care."
Organizer: Service Employees International Union (SEIU) and Change That Works.
Everyone impacted by the insurance companies' greed is most certainly invited.
Also, tonight - if you read this in time - for those who live in Colorado's House District 37, which is the Centennial and Southglenn area, your State Representative, Spencer Swalm (Republican), is having a Town Hall Meeting at Southglenn Library in the new mall area, at 7:00 P.M. for a discussion on Health Care in Colorado. Kaiser Permanente will be there to discuss electronic records.
Swalm is a proponent of employer-provided health insurance and helped lead the opposition to House Bill 1273, the Colorado single-payer health care bill that would have, and still might (2010 cycle) implement health care for all people in Colorado.

12 million unemployed. Foreclosures up 81%. Wall Street has taken over. We must break up the banks and never again let them get so big that they distort our politics and take down the economy.
