Buy Nothing Day flyers appear at Fort Collins Foothills Mall

Numerous flyers were spotted in the Foothills Mall, a hub of over-consumption, in Fort Collins, CO on Friday. The flyers announced the 15th annual Buy Nothing Day and encouraged people to “shop less” and “live more.”

Some of the flyers gave statistics and other information regarding consumption levels in the U.S. and compared consumption rates between the richest and poorest segments of humanity.

All across Colorado, people are preparing to observe Buy Nothing Day, an alternative to the capitalist-bred Black Friday. Black Friday (the day after thanksgiving) is the biggest shopping day in the country, and got its name because of its ability to make the numbers in the transaction register of a business go from red to black.
