Democrats
"John McCain has voted with George Bush 90 percent of the time."
This charge, a centerpiece of Obama's acceptance speech last night, was quite probably true.
But it was also a stunning piece of hypocrisy coming from the Democratic nominee who has himself voted for almost every single George Bush war funding bill since becoming a U.S. senator.
Final Day of DNC: Small, But Determined, Protesters Continue With Anti-War Message
Final Day of DNC: Small, But Determined, Protesters Continue With Anti-War Message
DENVER, Colo.—Obama-mania has reached its height on the streets of Denver and outside Invesco Field, where Senator Obama plans to deliver his highly anticipated acceptance speech to 70,000 plus supporters.
A political strategy for dealing with the Democratic Party
Today, the left appears powerless. The Democratic Party has moved to the right side of center-right. And in doing so it treats the votes of the left as something it can take for granted. And it treats the left with outright contempt, referring to them as 'idiot liberals' when they don't realize there's a camera pointed at them.
But the situation is not hopeless. In fact, the political position of the left is actually quite strong.
Iraq Vets Against War briefly blockade Denver traffic
From the Colorado Springs Gazette:
http://www.gazette.com/articles/small_39822___article.html/denver_dnc.html
"...a group of about 40 Iraq war veterans, clad in their tan camouflage battle dress uniforms, briefly halted traffic on the 16th Street Mall.
"This is Operation First Casualty because the first casualty of war is the truth," said Aaron Hughes, 26, of Chicago.
Democrats against democracy
Well, the one thing that is clear this week in Denver is that we no longer live in a democracy.
How could it possibly be a democracy, when the people are forbidden to talk with their political representatives? And that is clearly the message delivered by the surveillance cameras and the helicopters and the amazing numbers of police in riot gear. Our representatives have no interest in what we say, and they want us pushed as far away from them as possible. Our representatives don't want their lives interrupted by even a faint squeak of protest, thus the riot police have orders to keep any protesters out of sight.
Denver and the Dems
(Some scattered observations on the ridiculous)
Since we've known the Dems were coming, Denverites have noticed some dramatic changes in the Mile-High City. Not every development has been praiseworthy; for example, in the very city that declares small amounts of cannibis a low priority for law enforcement, we've experienced the embarrassment of a City Council obsessed with illegal possession-- of urine and feces. Elected officials blame their bathroom ordinance on protesters, whom they accuse of harboring nefarious and disgusting plans. But as far as we can tell, the Council's potty preoccupation has been a preemptive pipe dream that should have been flushed at conception.
Another Dem seeking change in Denver
Democrats seek change. But the need for change is more obvious to some than to others.
In this "land of plenty", the wealthiest nation on the planet, some need to beg change for a bite at Burger King.

The War Party: Democrats Lie to Prolong Iraq; Reporters Go Along
The War Party: Democrats Lie to Prolong Iraq; Reporters Go Along
by Ted Rall, September 13, 2007
Americans don’t know how their government works. Democrats, in control of Congress, are taking advantage of our ignorance to continue the Iraq War. Which brings up two questions: Why won’t the “antiwar” Democrats act to stop the carnage? And why aren’t reporters calling them on it?”
Pelosi, Hillary, and Lieberman: funded by Lockheed
Are you surprised by House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's continuing failure to take a firm stand for peace and an end to the U.S. occupation, dismantling, and slaughter of Iraq? Are you aware that if the Speaker truly wants to end the war, all she needs to do is refuse to allow any war-spending bill to come up for a vote in the House of Representatives? Are you suspecting that a President Hillary Clinton would not be a pro-peace, pro-diplomacy President? Are you shocked that candidate Clinton (along with several other Democratic candidates) refuses to rule out U.S. military use of nuclear weapons?
